Sometimes I really, really hate Television Without Pity. They've got so many bullshit rules that half the time I'm scared to post anything on there because it's going to get deleted anyway. Bunch of fucking Nazis. Yeah, I said it.

American Idol - seriously? Fucking seriously? Why? Why do I have to put up with Tatiana's insanity again? I thought I was done. I really thought it was over.

I have sort of exiled myself from LJ but I had to come back momentarily to say - Supernatural, Fuck Yeah!

Thank God it's back. I almost didn't realize how much I've missed it until I got to see this episode. Also, thank God (no pun intended) that they're bringing God and angels into this. I've always wondered, if you've got demons and hell, then where's the counterpoint, the balance? Now here it is and they have about a thousand ways they can take this into really awesome territory. I may not believe in God myself, but I find the Judeo-Christian mythology fascinating and boy, does it make for good cinema.

So...I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm taking a sabbatical from Livejournal. It's nothing that anyone has done and there's no drama behind it - I just need a small break. Heck, I wasn't on all that much anyway, so I doubt many will miss me. But for those of you who might - I will be back!

Book Rec

I just read the most amazing book - The Devil You Know. For those of you who are into comics, this name will be familiar - Mike Carey, the guy who wrote Lucifer and wrote for Hellblazer has come out with his first novel and it is brilliant.

It's part supernatural thriller, part detective novel. It's well-written with an interesting plot, great characters and enough twists and turns to really keep you on your toes. Oh, and you're going to love the protagonist, Felix Castor. No, really, you're going to love him. I kept trying to picture who would play him in the movie. And I say that because the book has some scenes that would translate magnificently in a move.

Anyway, if mystery/supernatural fiction is your cup of tea - go buy this book! I can't say enough good things about it.

P.S. I've already ordered his second book on Amazon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the second one is just as good as the first.

Oh my God, you guys. Oh my God. Blue Caravan by Vienna Teng? How can such a beautiful song exist? Wow. The only reason I discovered it was that it played during my massage today and I looked it up by lyrics as soon as I got home.

Man, there's nothing better than discovering an amazing song.

So I just read the book Dream Chaser, which I guess is part of the Dark-Hunter series. Wow. Just wow. I mean, it wasn't perfect and there were some parts I actually had to eyeroll at, but it was really interesting. Very interesting world with interesting characters. I read it in a few hours which means that I blew right through it which means it caught and kept my interest.

Now, I may have to go and read more of these things.

And Jaden...I want to know more about Jaden. Who is HIS master?

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

*I'm not tagging anybody*

Ok, I got tagged by crossbow1 and decided to try and do this. And this is actually tougher than it looks. I love all my stories - they're like my children - I've nurtured them, groomed them and then finally set them free upon the world when they were ready. I even love the slow, stupid ones.

So, in no particular order - here are (I guess) my top five.

News of Today

In today's top story: The investigation into the disappearance of Caylee Anthony appears to be stalled pending the results of DNA samples taken from the back of Casey Anthony's car. When asked for their opinion, most Americans responded, "What the fuck? It only takes a day on CSI!"

In today's sports news: Michael Phelps continues to prove to the world that the USA does not, indeed, suck by winning two gold medals. He also continues to prove that a sculpted body always looks better when wet.

In literary news: LDS church officials have gathered to decide how best to reward Stephanie Meyer for her successful LDS propaganda, The Twilight Series. Officials are very pleased with the reception the book has received, especially among young teenage girls, whom they fully expect to be joining the church in droves any time now. When asked to comment on the controversial baby scenes, thought be many to be explicitly gory and violent, they responded, "Ew. That was pretty nasty."

And in entertainment news: The Jonas Brothers continue to astound both young and old alike by garnering positive reviews for their latest album, "A Little Bit Longer." In a related news item, researchers found that pot smoking is on the rise among music reviewers.

So, I continue with my Twilight rant. Not a rant per se, this is more curiosity than anything. Honestly.

A couple of things I'd like to ask Mrs. Meyers. And hey, if anybody knows the answers, I'd love to hear them.

**May contain spoilers. Please read no further if you don't want to be spoiled on certain points. Although, I've only read the first two books - how much can I spoil?**

.
.
.
.
.

1. A big deal is made of Bella being impervious to the vampires' powers. The Volturi's powers don't work on her, Edward's doesn't. But in actuality, Alice's power technically works - she CAN see Bella's future. Not only that, but so does Jasper's. So - is she or isn't she? (maybe this is answered in the 3rd book)

2. It was said in one of the books (by Edward, I think) that vampires are the perfect predators. That everything about them is designed to lure people in. Their amazing beauty, their mesmerizing powers, their wonderful breath (which, btw, if I had to hear about how wonderful Edward's breath smelled one more time, I was going to throw up), etc. Even their sparkliness. Although, if I saw someone sparkling in the sun like a diamond, I think I'd fucking run the other way. Anyway, to the question...if they naturally draw people to them, then why is it that the entire school basically avoids them? Why aren't they fawning all over themselves, over and over again, to get near these people?

3. Oh, one more. This really is just curiosity. How attractive were all these vampires before they were turned? Like how much extra "oomph" does being a vampire give you? OH! And why was James described as plain? I thought all vampires were gorgeous. (SMyers certainly forced that nugget down my throat enough.)

The Top Reasons Why I Don't Like the Twilight Series

1. Edward is stupid
2. Bella is stupid
3. Everybody is stupid except for Jacob

Ok, just kidding. Sortof.

Because this is not spoilery at all (I repeat, no plot points are discussed), I'm not putting this behind a tag. However, if you really don't want to know ANYTHING about Twilight, then don't read this post.

So, I read the first book, mostly because I was about to board a plane for 15 hours and I needed something to do and I had heard so much about the series, I thought, "Why not?" The first book...was ok. It was easy to read and interesting and Edward didn't annoy me at all and Bella only annoyed me a little bit.

Now for the second book. I read it on the return flight back. I got it done. And I won't be continuing any further with the series. Now really, there are many reasons for this - one of which is that all the characters are being STUPID. But I won't elaborate here because that would require spoilers. I will say this though - something that bugs the hell out of me about the Bella character. She is in love with Edward's FACE. I lost track of the number of times that she talks about his dazzling, beautiful, god-like, flawless face. There were other adjectives too, which she used over and over again. There's barely an real compatibility and all she can ever think about is how beautiful he is. And I don't mean to get all preachy, but is that really the message we want to send to girls today? It's like the whole women's movement never happened. Not with Bella falling in love so quickly with Edward because he's so beautiful and essentially nothing else.

Again, I would start bitching about how New Moon takes this to the very irritating extreme but then it would get spoilery. You who have read the books know what I'm talking about anyway.

*sigh* And...end of rant. That's all I've got. And to forestall anybody yelling at me - if you absolutely adore the books - that's great. That is your opinion and I have mine. It's all fair in love and literature.
